Merry Christmas from Our Founder

Tue, Dec 23, 2025

As we close out 2025, we stand in awe of the growth Erie City Moms has experienced. And reflect on something important: The 9 years of quiet work we’ve done to get here.

People are often surprised to find out that we've been working with Moms and families since 2016. I started the organization with just a handful of women in a small meeting room lent to us by Wayne Park Baptist Church. We gathered Moms by knocking on doors on Erie’s lower East side, asking women to learn and grow with us—always free, always dinner and child care.

Every program, every move, every family was centered on one thing: Community that transforms.

Moms transformed through connections, unconditional love, leadership opportunities, and selfless moments of support.

Kids transformed through early interventions, trauma-informed care, and mentors who show up even when it’s inconvenient.

Volunteers and donors transformed not by what they give but by what they learn when they encounter our mission.

I’ve said it so many times before: I am incredibly blessed to get to do this work. This work has transformed me. I don’t see people, circumstances, or our city in even remotely the same light as I did when we launched our first Moms Night Out. Proximity and relationships have changed me. And I’ve seen them change our Moms, kids, and volunteers in ways that can only be described as miraculous.

This Christmas, I'm reflecting on the past nine years of work—how God has faithfully used every program, gathering, family, lesson, and partner to build a firm foundation for Erie City Moms and for the generations we will serve in the years ahead. I'm reminded that hope takes root through relationships and that love expressed through presence changes people. These are gifts we were given in the miracle of Christ, Emmanuel, God with us. I pray you join us in carrying these gifts forward in the New Year.

Merry Christmas, friends!

Amanda

If we haven’t met in person, I’m a loss Mom of two babies in Heaven, birth Mom to a son and daughter now teens, and adoptive Mom to two 20-somethings (daughters adopted at 12 and 13). Now and then, I share my thoughts… Today, I hope it fills your heart with hope, joy, and a little extra warmth to get you through the next few weeks. Follow Erie City Moms on Facebook for more.
